A person was taken to hospital with neck and back injuries after falling 20 metres down a steep verge in the Vale of Belvoir.

Firefighters from Melton and Grantham and a technical rescue crew attended the incident, at Terrace Hills Farms, on Belvoir Road near Knipton.

Paramedics from East Midlands Ambulance Service treated the casualty at the site before taking them to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said: “One casualty had fallen approximately 20 metres down a steep verge.

“The casualty suffered neck and back injuries and the fire service set up rope access as a safe system of work.

“The casualty was removed from the hillside and the basic rope system was kept in place to assist rescuers.”

The incident was reported in the early hours of Thursday June 30.
