Cyclists smash fundraising target inspired by Alice
Family members and friends of Alice Greaves smashed their fundraising target when they continued her annual cycling challenge just six months after she passed away.
A party of 100 people rode126 miles from Old Dalby to Sheringham, on the north Norfolk coast, on Saturday, and they hope to have raised a remarkable £140,000 from their efforts for Hope Against Cancer.

Alice, who was just 27 when she died in February after three years of treatment for multiple cancers, launched the ‘If Anyone Can Alice Can’ cycle challenge in 2024 and she took part in the first two despite what she was going through in her life.
Her mum, Libby, and dad, David, together with her partner, Danny. and brother, Alfie, and his girlfriend, Izzy, all completed the cycle at the weekend.

Libby told the Melton Times: “The weather was fine pretty much until the last stop at Stanhoe, in Norfolk.
"We had torrential rain all the way from there to Sheringham.
"It was hard. It was emotional. But we were really pleased we all managed to get to the finish line.”
Participants wore t-shirts with Alice’s photo on the back which helped them keep a focus on why they were doing it.

Proceeds will go to Hope Against Cancer, a Leicester-based cause which supports research which directly benefits local people, families and communities.
"We had lots of signs from Alice along the way, including a beautiful pink sky at one point,” added Libby.
"We’ve now raised over £350,000 just for Hope Against Cancer and that money is going to fund some crucial trials and help other people.”
The Norfolk cycle has grown every year with 75 cyclists raised £114,000 last year and 54 riders generating £97,000 in 2024.
The family say they will continue her fundraising events in Alice’s memory, including the cycle ride and the annual ball, which raises money for breast cancer research at the University of Nottingham.
They will also maintain support for the other charity close to her heart, Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People.
Fundraising for all three charities, from Alice’s inspiration, now tops an impressive £600,000.
