New business aimed at people in the Melton area with a sweet tooth

A new business has been launched for people in the Melton borough with a sweet tooth.

Poppy-Joyful Treats is the first business venture for Poppy-Joy Mousley, who is selling a wide variety of sweets from her Julie’s Sweet Shack at Asfordby Hill.

Her family already has a strong business heritage in the area running undertaking business.

Poppy-Joy works alongside her dad, Shane, at Butterfly Funeral Service, at East Goscote, while sister, Jennifer, is an independent funeral director based in Mill Street.

The sweet shack has been named after Julie Porter, one of Poppy-Joy’s closest friends, who sadly passed away in May.

An open day for the business was held at the weekend and proved a great success – it was attended by members of Julie’s family, including her daughter Kayleigh, her partner Richard, and several other relatives and friends.

As this is Poppy-Joy’s first business venture, her dad, Shane, provided her with a business loan to help get the business established, while Shane’s partner, Danielle, manages the administration.

The shack, in Kite Road, is decorated in pink – Poppy-Joy’s favourite colour – and is open Monday to Sunday from 9am until 9pm.

While a website is currently being developed, orders can be placed through Facebook, TikTok and Instagram via Poppy-Joyful Treats – customers visiting the shack can pay by cash or scan-and-pay.

Free local delivery is also available across Melton and the surrounding villages.

Poppy-Joy, who would like to open more sweet shacks across the county, would like to thank everyone who helped make her business a reality, including her dad, Shane, his partner, Danielle, and her friend Georgina.
