10-day cider festival to be hosted by Melton Mowbray town centre pub

A 10-day cider festival kicks off next week at a Melton Mowbray town centre pub.

The Kettleby Cross, on Wilton Road, will be serving up a range of craft ciders from across the UK at the event, from Friday July 31 to Sunday August 9.

Drinks lined up at the Wetherspoon pub will include traditional apple ciders, perries and flavoured ciders, which will cost £2.99 a pint.

They include Farmer Jims Prickly Pear, Hecks Slack-Ma-Girdle Cider, Purbeck Dandy Dab, Rich’s Sunset Gold, Thistly Cross Jaggy Thistle, Harry’s Scrummage and Pulp Razzberry Rush.

Pub manager Ali McQuillan said: “The festival is a great celebration of craft cider.

“It will allow us to showcase a number of craft ciders not previously available to our customers in the pub.”

Three third-of-a-pint tasters will also be available for the price of a pint.

Tasting notes on all of the craft ciders will be available at the pub with orders at the bar or via the Wetherspoon app.
