Dyslexic Melton woman to publish children's book based on her life experiences
A dyslexic Melton Mowbray woman is publishing a children’s book in a bid to raise awareness of the learning disability.
Lauren Hallam-King has based ‘Sometimes My Words Wobble’ on her own lived experiences and she hopes it will give hope to others who live with dyslexia.

The book is due to go on sale from the middle of October and readers can expect a rhyming book aimed at primary school children who are struggling and it's beautifully illustrated by Holly Degavre.
Lauren told the Melton Times: “It's a true story of how it felt to have dyslexia at school, it's hand illustrated by a talented female artist and dyslexia-friendly due to its font, rhyming pattern, text size, colour and message.
"I think readers should expect a sweet, true story that honours the struggle of dyslexia and neurodiversities, the frustration and feelings that can come with that."
She is also keen to point out that reading the book will give hope and reassurance to fellow dyslexics.
On the challenges of writing it, Lauren said: “Weirdly the story came quite easily to me, it's something I've lived and I'm passionate about dyslexia awareness.
"I didn't need to research because I've lived it.
"It was more about bringing back those feelings and sharing what helped me, creating the book I wished I'd have had as a kid.”
She added: “The most difficult part of creating this book was getting my brain to talk directly to my pen because they don't often communicate.
"The idea in my head makes perfect sense and then I try to explain it or write it down and I just have no clue where or how to start and it suddenly makes no sense.
“I'm not alone in that. I know many dyslexic people are very creative, full of ideas but they struggle to get them out, beyond a thought.
“Getting it on paper in a linear way and spelt correctly was the battle.
“But I'm very grateful to have a supportive husband in Tom and fantastic illustrator to elaborate on my words in Holly, many kids read with pictures, so illustrated books are a partnership.”
