WIN tickets to Melton Mowbray's Pie/Spirits Fest

If you love eating pies and drinking spirits the perfect event is coming to Melton Mowbray at the start of next month.

Pie/Spirits Fest takes place on the weekend of August 1 and 2 at the town’s Stockyard and combines the local pie heritage with our growing distillery sector in the area.

PieFest will not just feature the town’s famous pork pies but many from across the UK, including sweet and savoury pies, gluten free, veggie and vegan.

A former Supreme Champion at the British Pie Awards – Brockleby’s Pies’ Blue & Moo Pie, will be available to taste and buy.

Audiences can enjoy talks and demonstrations in the Pie Theatre, including a history of pies, favourite recipes and spirits sessions.

Workshops will include pie-making for adults as well as for children.

SpiritsFest includes a whole range of spirits, gin, rum, whisky, vodka, as well as flavoured spirits.

Unlike other festivals the producer must be present so you know you’re getting the authentic product.

There will also be a wide range of stands selling complimentary goods as well as hot food and drinks.

Organiser Matthew O’Callaghan said: “Everyone loves a pie, they are almost uniquely British with over £1billion of pies eaten by us every year.

"This festival is a celebration of the Pie held in the UK Capital of Pies Melton Mowbray.

"We’ve also combined it with our popular SpiritsFest where visitors will be able to talk to the producer directly as well as taste and sample a wide variety of spirits.”

The event runs on both days from 10am to 4pm, with last entry at 3.30pm.

Youngsters aged under 16 get in free if accompanied by an adult.

Unfortunately dogs (except service/guide dogs) are not allowed.
