Melton wellbeing service doubles number of attendees since move across town
It’s now been a year since a popular Melton Mowbray wellbeing centre moved across town and the bigger premises has enabled it to expand activities and support more people with their mental health.
Pepper’s - A Safe Place started up on King Street in January 22 before moving in June last year to the former Melton Toys shop on Nottingham Street – a unit twice as big as their inaugural one.

It is more central in the town and has helped centre manager, Jenny Hendry, and her team of volunteers to double the number of local people they support.
Jenny said: “We have been bowled over by the love and support shown to us by the local community since our move.
“Individuals, organisations and groups have helped us to add more sessions, increase our activities and open our doors for longer, which means more people can gain access to the mental health support they so desperately need.”
Pepper’s offers a safe space for anyone aged over 18 who is struggling with their mental health, wants to take a little time out for their wellbeing, or is feeling lonely or isolated.
They run social sessions, with a cuppa and a biscuit, such as arts & crafts, singing, tai chi, chair Pilates, yoga and fitness, yoga Nidra, mindfulness, and wellbeing walks.
The latest addition to its portfolio is a ‘Men’s Group’, which is every other Friday – the next session is on Friday, July 10, 11am to 1pm.
There’s also a new crochet group starting in August.
People can drop in whenever they want – it’s free to attend although £1 is welcome to cover refreshments costs.
