Eight witches join the Waltham Scottish country dancing class for a spooky treat
Eight witches arrived to bring a Hallowe’en element to the latest gathering of the Scottish Country Dancing group at Waltham on the Wolds.
They caused quite a stir after flying on their broomsticks to the session at the village hall.

John Aitken, a stalwart of the Scottish Country Dancing club, commented: “We were wondering what a group of witches is called – the answer is a coven or alternative names include a convent, a grove or a circle.
“But on Thursday night at Waltham Village Hall we had another name – a set of witches.
“Eight of them came to dance with Scottish Country Dancers at our regular weekly class.
“We had live music, many dancers were in kilts and tartan, but the witches in their scary costumes wanted to be part of the scene, so formed a set to cast their spells.”
New members are always welcome to join the class, which meets every Thursday.
