Appeal launched to raise final £50k for Vale of Belvoir community, sports and education hub
Just £50k is now needed in the fundraising drive for a new community, sports and education hub in the Vale of Belvoir.
The Belvoir Education & Sports Trust (BEST) has launched a public appeal so it can fit out the community spaces at its base at Belvoir Cricket Ground, at Knipton.

After years of planning, fundraising and hard work, the hub is nearing completion, at a total cost of £875,000.
Replacing an old cricket pavilion, the hub will be a vital asset for everyone in the Vale for generations to come.

It will super-charge the charity's work, inspiring thousands of children to lead active, healthy lives through sport and countryside education.
It will also give Belvoir Cricket Club a home worthy of its history and future.
And, crucially, it will also be open to the local community for activities and events, helping to tackle rural isolation and disadvantage.
Darren Bicknell, chief executive of BEST, said: “It’s a commitment to our children, families, volunteers, the cricket club, and to every community member who deserves a safe and warm place to gather, learn, play and belong.
“To open the doors of the hub this autumn, fully fitted and ready for the community, we must raise the final £50,000.
“This sum will complete the interior, fit out the community spaces, and ensure the building is accessible, welcoming and ready for year-round use.
“Every single contribution – whether £10 or £10,000 – moves us a step closer and will have a direct, visible and lasting impact.”
BEST reaches more than 5,500 primary school children and youngsters with special educational needs and disability every year, getting them active through sport and out into the countryside to learn, discover and grow.
The charity holds a 50-year lease on the ground and the hub has been designed with flexibility in mind, so the lounge and main changing rooms can be opened out to create one large community space.
This can be used as a ‘classroom in the countryside’ or for community activities, fitness classes and events.
Looking to the future, there are plans to add a sports hall and multi-use games area which will boost the charity’s ability to double the number of people it reaches.
