There are currently over 4.6 million people living with a diabetes diagnosis, with many more either undiagnosed or at high risk of developing the condition. The charity works to improve care, provide vital information and support, and fund pioneering research into new treatments and, ultimately, a cure.

The housebuilder’s donation will contribute towards the charity’s ongoing research and support services, helping to improve the lives of those living with diabetes and bringing the organisation closer to achieving its long-term goals.

Charlotte Clarke, Community Fundraising Manager at Diabetes UK, said: “We were delighted to be chosen as a recipient of this donation. We rely on fundraising and the generosity of organisations like David Wilson Homes to help us continue our life-changing research.

“We are committed to tackling the diabetes crisis by funding research that will one day lead us to a cure. Our work is made possible thanks to supporters who offer their time and generous donations to help us reach a world where diabetes can do no harm.

“We’d like to thank David Wilson Homes for choosing our charity. Support like this is essential for our work and we will ensure that it goes towards improving the lives of those living with diabetes.”

David Wilson Homes’ donation was made through its Community Fund scheme via The Barratt Redrow Foundation. The scheme is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the UK to leave a legacy in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.

The Barratt Redrow Foundation is celebrating its fifth anniversary in 2026. Since its launch, it has committed £20 million to charities and good causes, supported over 2,000 different charities, and is estimated to have directly impacted 100,000 young people each year.

John Reddington, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “We’re proud to support Diabetes UK and the vital work it does to support people living with diabetes.

“The charity’s commitment to improving care, funding research and providing essential support services makes a real difference to millions of people across the UK. We’re pleased that our Community Fund donation can contribute towards its important work.”
