Aaron's treble inspires Melton Mowbray to easy away win

Desford 0 Melton Mowbray FC 5

A sparkling hat-trick from Aaron Black inspired Melton to another three crucial points on Saturday.

Melton travelled to play the bottom side with a depleted squad but they made light work of a side which has won just twice this season.

Desford got plenty of men behind the ball in the opening 30 minutes as they attempted to derail the visitor’s challenge for the title.

But Melton finally broke the deadlock following a move on 30 minutes which started from goalkeeper Cragg’s clearance.

Jake Wain flicked the ball on and Black finished expertly.

Within five minutes it was 2-0 when Jack Baker found Ash Palfreyman and he fired into the top corner.

Last season’s top scorer Black continued to torment the Desford backline after being switched up front from his midfield spot for this game.

He was brought down in the area 10 minutes into the second period and picked up himself up to take the resulting penalty.

Although his spot kick was saved, Black fired home the rebound.

Melton went four-up when Kieran Foster volleyed in Wain’s centre in spectacular fashion.

Black completed his hat-trick when the tireless Wain played him through on goal.

He had a fourth goal - a fine solo effort - ruled out by a harsh offside flag.
