A tradition stretching back at least 40 years, villagers and visitors gathered once again to take part in a skittles competition with prizes up for grabs in four categories - children, adults and teams of four and eight.

As well as the hotly-contested skittles matches there was also a hot dog stall, children’s stalls, tombola and the annual raffle, which was drawn on the Sunday evening rather than the usual Friday night.

The event raised over £1,000 towards the upkeep of the village hall.

Bev Kearns, village hall committee chairwoman, said: “I was really pleased with the turnout. Everything went really well and there was a good mixture of young and old competitors.

“Thank you to everyone who helped organise another successful event.”

The overall winners of the skittles tournaments were Will Gramp (children) Steve, Dave, Gemma and Gio (adults), C Team and Gio and the band (team of four) and Solar Bridge (team of eight).
