Two young men injured after car hits Melton telegraph pole

Two men aged in their 20s were taken to hospital - one of them with serious injuries - after a car they were travelling in struck a telegraph pole and then a wall in Melton.

Police say the single-vehicle incident was reported at 11.34pm on Saturday on Scalford Road.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “It was reported the car had collided with a telegraph pole.

“East Midlands Ambulance Service was in attendance and two men, both in their 20s, were taken to hospital.

“One man suffered serious injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

“The other man suffered injuries that were not believed to be serious.

“A 22-year-old man, of Melton Mowbray, has been reported for failing to provide a specimen.

“Enquiries remain ongoing.”

John Frisby posted photos of the aftermath of the collision on the Neighbourhood Watch Melton Mowbray Facebook page.

He said the incident happened at the junction with Elgin Drive and resulted in the vehicle ‘ending up in a front garden on the opposite side of Scalford road to the snapped pole’.

Mr Frisby, added: “We heard the bang from our living room.”
