Young performers invited to audition for Melton Theatre's High School Musical
Talented children and young people are being invited to audition for an upcoming production of the iconic High School Musical at Melton Theatre.
The show is being put on by RARE Productions, which is a youth musical theatre company giving young people aged from eight to 21 the chance to shine in full-scale musicals on professional stages.
Auditions are being held at Melton Theatre on Monday March 2 and Saturday March 7, with rehearsals then earmarked on Sundays at Great Dalby village hall, starting from April 19.
The show will then be staged at the theatre between Thursday and Saturday, June 25 and 27.
A spokeswoman from RARE Productions said: “We’re all about creating unforgettable experiences, from the very first rehearsal to the final curtain call.
“Expect teamwork, laughter, new friendships, and tons of fun, all while learning exciting new skills and performance techniques.
“Whether you're a seasoned performer or stepping on stage for the first time, RARE is the perfect place to grow, create, and be part of something amazing.”
High School Musical first aired as a TV show 20 years ago with Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens starring.
The story revolves around East High. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes find their cliques.
Basketball team captain, and resident jock, Troy, discovers that the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at the school.
They cause an upheaval when they decide to audition for the high school musical, led by Ms. Darbus.
Those who are interested in auditioning for the Melton Theatre production of High School Musical can arrive at any time during the following time slots:
March 2 – 5-6pm (ages seven to 12); 6-7pm (ages 13 to 21).
March 7 – 2-3.30pm (ages seven to 12); 3.30pm to 5pm (ages 13 to 21).
