Dog owners invited to learn pet first aid skills at village session
Dog owners in the Melton Mowbray area are invited to attend a special first aid session which will give them the skills to treat or save the life of their beloved pet if they are ever in distress.
The Buddiepet Canine First Aid Class will take place at the village hall at Burton Lazars on Sunday November 15 – this is a return visit to the area after the first proved very popular.

Instructor, Charlotte Burton, said the sessions are in demand across Leicestershire but they wanted to return to Melton because local people ‘are absolutely nuts about their dogs’.
Charlotte, who is an RCVS-trained ex-veterinary nurse, told the Melton Times: “After seeing how incredibly passionate the local community is about their pets, we knew we had to return.

“This isn’t your average, dry health seminar – it’s a fun, fast-paced, three-and-a-half-hour workshop where local pet owners, dog walkers, and groomers get hands-on experience.
“We even bring along dedicated dummy dogs so attendees can practice everything from canine CPR to choking rescue maneuvers and bandaging.”
Those who attend will get training in skills ranging from emergency CPR and choking management to bandaging, shock treatment, and handling heatstroke – they will learn directly from a veterinary professional with real-world clinical experience.
Spaces are limited to 18 people and by the end of the class attendees will walk away with an official Level 2 (VTQ) qualification and the skills to save a furry best friend's life.
