Former King Edward VII students to gather for 75th anniversary reunion

On September 4, 1951 around 90 boys and girls from Melton Mowbray and surrounding villages, such as Long Clawson, Harby, Bottesford, Waltham, Asfordby Hill and Tilton on the Hill, met up for their first day at the King Edward VII Grammar School, on Burton Road.

Up to 30 of those pupils are still alive today and they are planning to celebrate the 75th anniversary of that very significant day in their lives on that very date this year.

It is rumoured that some may even try to be dressed as they were on that day!

They plan to meet at noon at Sysonby Knoll Hotel, on Asfordby Road, for a ‘School Dinners’ lunch and to share their stories and memorabilia of that time back in the 1950s at school and their lives since.

If you were one of those who were in that school year at KE7 and would like to share in this unique experience please email Pip Warne on [email protected] or 07974 160922.
