Closure date revealed for Melton Mowbray town centre store
One of the most prominent Melton Mowbray town centre retail units will soon be vacant with the imminent closure of TG Jones.
‘Store closing down’ signs recently appeared in the window of the Market Place store, which sells stationery, books, gifts and toys, and it is understood that it will cease trading on October 10, almost exactly a year after it opened up.

The unit was previously occupied by WH Smith since 1954 and it was rebranded to TG Jones after the chain was sold to Modella Capital, the owners of brands such as Hobbycraft.
The company announced earlier this summer it would be closing up to 150 of its 450 stores, with to close in September and others, including Melton Mowbray, to follow.
The closures are part of a restructuring plan to prevent the company becoming insolvent.
Customers at Melton’s TG Jones can get discounts of up to 30 per cent on items before it closes.
