It was recently rated by the New York Times as ‘one of the world’s five most interesting food festivals’ and this year there will be over 175 producers showcasing artisan foods from across the East Midlands region.

And the Melton Times has teamed up with the organisers – the Melton Mowbray Food Partnership – to offer pairs of tickets to five lucky readers in a competition.

Email your answer to [email protected] by 4pm on Monday September 21 – please ensure you include your name, postal address and mobile number in your entry.

Organisers promise one of the best festivals in years with additional stands booked both for local products and for hot street food.

The programme for the Food Theatre has been completely revamped and includes an award-winning piemaker demonstrating tips for the perfect pie as well as the art of gin-making by a local producer.

For the adults, master baker Stephen Hallam will be running a pie workshop and for the kids there are workshops for making pies, butter, cheese and chocolate lollies.

The award-winning gospel choir, El Eaga, will be joined on the live entertainment bill by the Melstrum Ukulele Band and the New St George Morris dancers.

A major feature of the festival is the Street Food Zone with hot dishes being served up from around the world.

Tickets cost £7 with children aged under 16 getting in free. It will be open from 10am to 4pm on both days.

Along with the town’s three other foodie events – the Artisan Cheese Fair, PieFest and ChocFest – the food festival is a major contributor to the Melton rural economy with tourism associated with food heritage accounting for over £100M per annum to the Melton borough.
