Plenty of festive fun at special sessions organised by Melton wellness centre
There was plenty of Christmas spirit when a Melton Mowbray wellness hosted two festive social events for local people.
The team at Pepper’s – A Safe Place, which is based on Nottingham Street, put on the special sessions to celebrate with town residents.

Talented local musician, Thomas Corden, played at a Christmas singalong on Wednesday, and everyone was treated to a festive buffet, gifts and a party.
Jenny Hendry, centre manager, said: “We had such a lovely time with all our Pepper’s friends and the centre was filled with chatter and smiles.
“Christmas isn’t the easiest time of year for everyone, so we wanted to do something to spread a little bit of joy with music, gifts and kindness.”
Thomas – whose music is on YouTube channel ItsTCThePianoman – played a selection of classics, like Silent Night, Frosty the Snowman, Jingle Bell Rock and Shakin’ Stevens’ Merry Christmas Everyone.
Councillor Siggy Atherton, Mayor of Melton, was also there to singalong.
The centre, which offers wellbeing activities throughout the year, has also hosted a number of Christmas craft sessions so people can benefit from the therapeutic effects of art.
Jenny added: “Pepper’s is a lovely place where everyone is welcome – it offers an opportunity for people to pause, regroup and look after their wellbeing.
“If anyone is looking for some company, or wants to try something new in the new year, Pepper’s is a great place to start.”
Pepper’s offers social sessions, mindfulness, art and craft workshops, music, exercise classes and walks.
It’s open to any adults aged 18 or over who want to take some time out to look after their mental health, combat loneliness and re-connect with the local community.
The sessions provide an opportunity for people to chat with volunteers, enjoy a cup of tea and a biscuit, get mental wellbeing support and make new friends.
There’s no charge to go along – donations of £1 for tea and coffee welcome – and no need to book – just drop-in.
Pepper’s is at 43 Nottingham Street, Melton Mowbray, LE13 1NN.
