Schools to take part in fun activities for World Book Day

The aim of World Book Day is to work children’s imagination and help them become passionate about reading, which will make them more enthusiastic for studying and learning, self-confidence, personal development and opportunities as they get older.

Children from Brownlow Primary School are holding a competition for the best dressed boy and girl from each class. The winners will receive vouchers to spend at the school’s library book fair.

Pupils at Swallowdale Primary School have been asked to create a scene from their favourite book in a box. Prizes will be presented to the winners in a special school assembly and each child will receive a free £1 book token for entering.

The Grove Primary School are asking their pupils to bring their favourite book to school for the day as well as fundraising for Sport Relief and Marie Curie.

Dress up days have also been organised at St Mary’s Primary School and Sherard Primary School whilst St Francis Primary School are dressing up and holding science themed activities.

A Harry Potter themed day has been organised at Whissendine Primary School whilst Asfordby Captain’s Close Primary School are combining World Book Day activities with Shakespeare and a trip to The Curve Theatre.
