Melton Brass Band have success at regional contest

The result means the band have an opportunity to represent the Midlands at the national finals at Cheltenham racecourse in September.

Band secretary Anne Craddock said: “We came third out of 17 bands. This is the first time in the bands 202 year history that we’ve made the podium and been invited to play at the national finals.

“As a band we are extremely proud of what we have accomplished this year and a trip to the national final is well deserved. We now have a busy summer programme ahead of us and the fundraising now begins for our trip to Cheltenham.

“Thanks must go to our sponsors the Melton Building Society and all our supporters at contests, bandstands and concerts.”

The band are always on the lookout for new members, particularly euphonium, bass, cornet and instrument players.They are also available to hire for engagements.
