Guide to Syston's Christmas lights switch-on event - what you need to know

Syston is already getting in the festive mood with this year's preparations well under way for the Christmas parade and switching on of the Christmas lights.

Celebrations will be in full swing on Saturday, December 3, with Syston Festive Fun Day offering a range of enjoyable activities and attractions for all the family.

The annual speciality Christmas market will be held in Central Park 11.30am until 5.30pm, featuring a wide selection of food and craft stalls.

The Santa parade will also be taking place from 3.45pm at the Community Centre and travel up St Peter’s Street, along Melton Road to the Sundial Entrance, where Santa will leave his sleigh and proceed to the stage for the light switch-on ceremony.

On stage this year performing will be St Paul’s Hand Bells, Syston Band, llea Cavagner, Kimika, The Left Hand Band and Ska Amanga.

Other entertainment on the day includes a mini fun fair, Santa’s Grotto and street entertainer Superman.

The park will be floodlight from 3pm and a firework display will close the event at around 4.30pm.
