Staycation

As dusk fell, the sight of an illuminated Chatsworth House in all its glory was a vision to behold as we wound our way through the darkening lanes of the Derbyshire Peak District.

A list of the things that people treat as guilty pleasures but in fact, really, are just pleasures: singing in your car; Dairylea Triangles; not bothering to get dressed all day; the music of Belinda Carlisle; putting a whole Creme Egg in your mouth.

It’s been a fabulous night of fine dining and entertainment, but with reluctance we decide to retire to our cruise ship stateroom. Approaching the cabin door, it unlocks automatically, our own smiling faces and a cheery 'welcome back' greeting us on the adjacent mini screen.
