THORPE ARNOLD v ROTHLEY PARK

Thorpe won by 9 wickets

Match ball sponsor Swift Resin Services

THORPE picked up a maximum 24 points on Saturday after disposing of former league leaders Rothley. But it was not enough to bring them promotion as they are still 28 points behind second-placed Kegworth with a maximum 24 on offer from their final match on Saturday.A competent bowling display and sound catching never let Rothley into the game and they were all out for 125.In reply, Thorpe made batting look easy with Nathan Pell and John Taylor (42no) figuring in a fine 50-run partnership before Barry Lecoytes hard-hitting excellent 57 not out brought the game to a speedy conclusion.Barrow: Total 125 all out.Bowling: G. BARROW TOWN v EGERTON PARK

MELTON were still in with a chance of promotion before Saturdays game at the all-England ground but it was imperative they beat Mountsorrel. And they so did quite comfortably to take maximum points and leave it all to play for in this weeks final match away at Enderby. After electing to field, Tew made the breakthrough in his first over and when Towell was needlessly run out the home side were in the driving seat.Wickets tumbled at regular intervals and at 39-7 an early finish looked likely. Tew bowled his usual accurate line to take three wickets and Mullard for once had a good share of luck to grab four. When Tew (3-12) was replaced by Mistry, Castle had recovered slightly but Mistry dismissed Smoro for the top score of 22 and quickly wrapped up the tail to dismiss the visitors for a dismal 78.Meltons innings started in dramatic style with five wides from the first ball and Measom getting out from the second as Mohammed worked up a fair pace.Mullard soon took the attack back to Mountsorrel and with McKee supporting at the other end as usual it took just 13.4 overs to accomplish the task, Mullard finishing on 39 and McKee 19. Mountsorrel: Total 78 all out.Bowling: Mullard 15-3-42-4, Tew 12-7-12-3, Mistry 3-0-10-2.Melton: Measom 0, McKee 19*, Mullard 39*. Extras 21. Total 99 for 8.
