Captain Nobby Keightley won another toss and batted, leaving the hosts to face 45 overs in the field in the 100 degree heat.

Harry Webster was first to go on 12, followed by Tim Hirst who hit a quick 37 as Thorpe reached 63-2 from 12 overs.

Countesthorpe brought two spinners on to put the brakes on the flow of runs, but every Thorpe batsman contributed with Chris Smith (44), Mark Carnell (41) and Chris Waldron (38) the most notable as Thorpe finished on 243-9, a better than average score.

Countesthorpe also started at six an over but lost two wickets to Phil James and one to Waldron to leave them 100-3 from 19 overs.

Keightley and Hirst came on to stop the flow of runs and Hirst took the prize wicket of the Countesthorpe opener for 53.

Keightley bowled the number seven after a quick 17 as the pair put Countesthorpe out of the game.

Luke Clarke and Charles Baker returned to try and take the final three wickets and took a wicket apiece, but the final pair held out for the last three overs. Thorpe collected an excellent 19 points.
