Thomas egded out Meltom Olympic CC Freewheel and Hillclimb

MELTON Olympic Cycling Club hosted their annual Freewheel and Hill Climb at Harby on Sunday morning.

Andrew Thorn got the furthest on the freewheel just beating Thomas Ison. Ryan Corbyn (VC Rutland) was next followed by Chris Walker, John Farnsworth, Bryan Fenwick, Stuart Faver (unattached), Bill Vetcher, Norman Portess, Rod Weston, Keith Hamilton and young Alex Thorn.

* A total of 14 riders competed in the Hill Climb with Chris Walker the first home for the club in a time of 3min 01.8secs followed by runner-up Thomas Ison in 3.08.1 and John Farnsworth in 3.13.0.

Alex Thorn claiming the Juvenile Trophy on his Hillclimb debut in a good time of 3.33.0. Bryan Fenwick, Rod Weston and Andrew Thorn were close together with times of 4.07.9, 4.10.4 and 4.14.5.

The club was also well supported by riders from other clubs – James Hampshire (Leicester Forest CC) 2.39.0, Andy Ward (Leicester Forest CC) 2.50.1, Tom Graham (Leicester Forest CC) 2.50.3, Ian Penrose (Leicestershire Road Club) 2.57.1, Ryan Corbyn (VC Rutland) 3.02.6, Stuart Faver (unattached) 3.26.3, Simon Diaz Diaz (Leicester Forest CC) 3.44.3.
