Swallowdale School praised at county sports awards
Swallowdale Primary School was highly commended in the LRS Primary PE and Sport Premium Award, finishing only behind winners Millfield L.E.A.D Academy, of Leicester.
The award recognised the school which had achieved the greatest impact through its use of primary sports premium funding, particularly impact on the wider school, individual students, staff, and the community.

Hide AdHeld in partnership with De Montfort University, 10 awards were presented with groups and individuals rewarded for their dedication to local sport.
The evening was hosted by local sport and physical activity advocate Gaynor Nash and BBC Radio Leicester’s Ian Stringer, while former GO GOLD ambassadors, the professional cyclist Grace Garner and Olympic athlete Jonny Walton took part in a Q&A.
* Old Dalby Primary School took the honours at a Key Stage 2 Sportsability Festival at Melton Sports Village last week.
Teams from Great Dalby, Ab Kettleby, Old Dalby, Sherard and Birch Wood completed a circuit of boccia, kurling, sitting volleyball and multi-skills activities.

Hide AdOld Dalby accumulated the highest overall score from the six activities and will to represent Melton and Belvoir at the Leicester-shire and Rutland Summer Championships on Friday, June 30.
Event organisers Melton and Belvoir School Sport and Physical Activity Network congratulated all of the participants and thanked sports leaders from Birch Wood and Brooksby Melton College and Mark Beeby for training the leaders ahead of the festival.
* Brooksby Melton College hosted a new Key Stage 2 Volleyball Festival last Wednesday.
During the afternoon the 42 pupils from Ab Kettleby, Brownlow and Sherard were introduced to various skills and finished with a round-robin tournament. Thanks to a Samworth funding bid, Leicestershire Volleyball Association and Melton Lions Volleyball Club the children were able to use new equipment, including a volleyball net slider, awarded to colleges and schools across the county to help the sport’s development.
