Strong end to 2025 as optimism blooms for Melton Town

Melton Town have put a poor start to 2025 behind them to end a turbulent year strongly and with optimism for the future.
At the start of November 2024, the Reds were sitting in the UCL Premier North play-offs and eyeing up a promotion push.
Off-field matters, which were out of the club's control, made for turbulent times ahead and they slipped down to 10th place in the league by the start of 2025.
Melton's poor form continued in January and by the end of the month they were on a run of 11 defeats and one draw.
The run-in to the end of the season then saw Town win just three times in 14 matches to finish in a respectable 11th place.
This season saw Melton get off to a poor start with three defeats and a draw including a 3-0 loss to Bottesford Town in the FA Cup.
Their first win of the season came at home to Ashby Ivanhoe, but the results continued to go against them.
Having only picked up seven points from the first nine matches they languished in 18th place in the league.
Bad luck in the cups carried on as they lost 3-1 to Eastwood in the League Cup, 2-1 to GNG Oadby in the County Cup and then 4~0 to Retford in the FA Vase.
However, late in the year off-field matters were resolved and the form started to pick up.
Since the end of October Melton have won four drawn three and lost just three and December saw them unbeaten in the month.
Luther Munakandafa is top scorer with nine goals so far.
They ended the year in 10th place just three points off the play-off spots.
The team are starting to gel together and confidence is at a high.
A good run of results in January could see Melton give promotion half a chance.
The Reds were without a game last weekend and next head to AFC Mansfield on Saturday,
