Stathern School runners claim cross country team treble

Stathern Primary School achieved a notable triple success as their runners claimed three team titles at the Vale of Belvoir Primary Schools Cross Country Championships.

Nine schools from across the Vale travelled to Hose to compete in four different categories.

Stathern secured first place in the Year 3 and 4 girls’ competition with Scalford coming in second for whom Rosie Ashmore was the individual girls’ race winner.

Buckminster took the title for the Year 3/4 boys’ race with help from Ollie Billington who finished in second position.

Race winner Alex Mahoney helped Long Clawson to second place, and Hose completed the top three.

Megan Davis won her race to help Stathern win the Year 5/6 girls’ team title, narrowly ahead of runners-up Hose.

Long Clawson took the final podium position thanks to Olivia Gilberton who crossed the line in third.

Stathern also took the Year 5/6 boys’ title ahead of second-placed Buckminster, and Long Clawson in third.

Organisers congratulated all of the runners who took part from Buckminster, Stathern, Long Clawson, Croxton Kerrial, Waltham, Ab Kettleby, Redmile, Hose, Harby and Scalford.

They also thanked Hose Village Hall for hosting the event, Hose PFA for providing refreshments, and the Belvoir Leaders for marshalling and helping throughout the competition.
