The Midlands One East leaders overpowered fourth-placed West Bridgford 19–7 under the lights at Barkby Road to move 13 points clear of closest challengers Oundle.

They needed just two bonus-point wins from their final four games to guarantee the title, and were also on course to break their points tally from their last two promotion years of 2015 and 2011, when they accumulated 116 and 117, respectively.

But the suspension of all rugby in England for at least the next month leaves their season, and immediate promotion back to Midlands Premier, in limbo.

Their remaining fixtures are trips to third-placed Derby, Towcestrians and Market Harborough, and home clashes with Lutterworth and Melbourne.

* On Saturday, Syston RFC Colts booked another trip to Welford Road after securing their place in the Colts County Cup final.

They overcame Oakham 18-10 in their semi-final.
