Melton RFC: Junior squads combine for season opener
Melton RFC Under 13s opened the new season at home to Spalding on Sunday with both sides including U12s players to bolster the numbers.
This season is their first year on a full-size pitch for the U13s and each half was 20 minutes, but the stamina and fitness of all players was excellent. Spalding won out 45-5, with S. Burt getting the second-half consolation try, but the Melton boys played well, and there was strong defensive play throughout.
Melton made several bursts towards the try line, but their opponents matched their speed to put in last-gasp try-saving tackles.
The team wishes to say a big thank-you to the under 12s players, coaches and parents for their help and support, showing great teamwork and club spirit.
