The club will be hoping for a big touchline support as they host Bugbrooke at Burton Road (kick-off 3pm), the start of five matches which will decide if they can avoid a second successive relegation.

Consistency of team selection has been the biggest headache for head coach Mike Holford, as it was for Gareth Collins in Midlands One East last season.

The young side has produced a string of impressive performances, but have just lacked the cutting edge which brings points.

After a blank in their Midlands Two East (South) fixture schedule, Melton face a rearranged fixture postponed by a waterlogged pitch two weeks ago.

While they were out of action, basement rivals St Ives were picking up points in one of their games in hand, with a 5-5 draw at Northampton Casuals.

The result lifted the Cambridgeshire side above Melton by a point, with a game in hand, leaving Mowbray second-bottom.

The challenge will be stiff with four of their remaining fixtures coming against sides in the top five, starting with fifth-place Bugbrooke.
