Youngsters enjoy Melton Mowbray Tennis Club's multisports week

Thirty plus youngsters took full advantage of the good weather to have lots of fun at the Melton Mowbray Tennis Club's Easter Multisport week.

With head coach Di Burdett and her right hand coach Ryan Parmar along with a team of teenage club juniors taking the young visitors through the week’s adventure.

The week consisted of a multitude of team games which of course included dodge ball, tennis drills, unihoc, football and an added attraction this year of a bullseye relay which ended with teams throwing small, stick on balls at a giant dartboard.

Next Multisport Camp will be starting on Tuesday, 26th May until Friday, 29th May.

On the courts, team practises are underway, and although several players are easing their way back to fitness after sustaining winter injuries, men’s skipper Ryan Parmar and ladies’ skipper Charlotte Griffin are looking forward to another competitive season with no less than 17 junior and senior teams competing for the club during the summer season.

Meanwhile off the courts this week saw the groundwork start on the new toilet block by Griffin and Co Construction Ltd, with Ladies and County Captain Charlie Griffin’s father Tony heading up this project which has been funded by the club’s superb network of local sponsors and the efforts of a superb band of ever growing club members and friends.

Early May will see an Adult beginner coaching group started up with Di Burdett and Ryan Parmar running these initial four weeks with an option of Saturday or Monday afternoons on offer.

All equipment will be supplied, so only suitable trainers are needed and, of course, these sessions are open to non-members also.

And you will get the chance to see what it’s like to play on artificial clay courts regardless of whatever your standard is, the club prides itself on catering for members from four years to 80 years of age and all standards from Beginner to County Standard.

For any further information on the Tennis Camps, Multi Sports Camps or Beginner Coaching sessions or even considering membership please contact Di Burdett on 07841 380410 or [email protected]
