Strong final hour earns Donaldson a 98lbs haul

He fished close in with corn over pellet on peg 13 on reef and had a steady match until he caught some good sized mirrors and F1’s in the final hour, finishing with 98lbs well ahead of the rest.

On peg 15, Martin Quilter fell short with 63lbs for second overall. The other section winner on reef was Bill Arme with 25lbs from peg 8.

On Marina Gary Smith on peg 14 only needed 56lbs to win the lake.

John Cooke on peg 6 was not far behind with 51lbs for second on the lake. The other section winner was Dave Knott from peg 24 with 41lbs.

Stream had better all round weights on Saturday and it was peg 4 that gave Pete Sisson his first overall win for some time.

He had 65lbs of F1’s and carp, but it was late on before they fed well.

Second on the lake was Steve Beckhurst from peg 10 with 55lbs and third on the lake was Pete Cliffe with 54lbs.

On river peg 20, Martin Quilter had the lake win with 53lbs.

He was just ahead of Ralph Marshall on peg 17 with 45lbs.

The other section winner was Cliff Adcock on peg 14 with 46lbs.
