Melton Hockey Club Thirds cement second place with six-goal win
Yet the Thirds will have to wait for their final place to be confirmed after hockey in England fell into line with other sports and suspended their seasons.
Melton started with good tempo at home to Bridgford which led to plenty build-up play several good opportunities, with Joey Yates and Will Creed going close on many occasions.

Hide AdThe breakthrough came after good work in midfield from Nick Adams who passed the ball into the D for Jason Creed whose first-time shot hit the backboard.
His second goal followed shortly after following good work down the right from Joseph Harris and Archie Adams, interchanging passes.
Will Creed then linked midfield play to set up his dad who rounded two defenders to strike the ball home.
The second half began much the same, with Melton dominating from back to front and Liam in goal not having a single touch.

Hide AdFreddie and Connor’s strength at the back allowed the home side to move the ball forwards with confidence.
This led to a third goal as Archie Adams dribbled the ball into the D and squared it for Oliver Nash to slot past the keeper.
Creed Senior’s hat-trick goal then followed from a trademark short corner strike.
With Nick Adams and Creed Senior subbed off it was left to the juniors to wrap up the game, with Archie scoring the fifth goal after some good passing between Will, Oliver and James.
And Melton wrapped up a 6-0 win from a Will Creed short corner strike which Oliver deflected in.
