Sproxton set for fast and furious classic motorcross

Thunder and lightning comes to Sproxton on Sunday in the shape of turf-tearing solo and sidecar motocross racing motorcycles.

The 22-­race programme includes championship rounds for the Greeves and the ClassMXRider.Com Pre­1968 series.

The meeting is organised by Northampton Classic MX Club which is playing a leading role in bringing the excitement of classic off­road bike action to the area.

This championship level event aims to deliver a full day of thrilling sport for all ages.

Clerk of the course Colin Hill said: “We have about 70 riders taking part including pre­-1968 champion in 2014 and 2015 Aaron Graves, from Maldon, in Essex.

“He has been all but unbeatable these past two seasons, but there are plenty of championship contenders hot on his heels.

“The girl riders testing their stamina are Maddison Harvey and Charlotte Bloor.

“Both are sidecar passengers, and the fitness level required to be a sidecar passenger has to be experienced to be believed.”

The classic four-­stroke and two-­stroke singles and twins from the 1950s to the 1980s fire up for practice at 9.30am with first race off at 10am.

Adult admission is £5, and free for under ­15s. Parking is free, and a food stall will be on site.
