Mixed fortunes for Hamilton Tennis Club sides

There have been mixed fortunes for Hamilton’s men’s teams at the start of the winter season.

The highlight was the fourth team’s 5-3 win against Loughborough fourths with Joe Cunningham and Graham Brown taking three sets and Edwin Shufflebotham with Selwyn Carter two.

Two tie-breaks which went the wrong way saw the team lose 5-3 to Victoria thirds. Edwin Shufflebotham with Selwyn Carter took three sets and lost the fourth to a tie break while Joe Cunningham and Richard Evans also lost one of their sets to a tie break.

The third team of Graham Hall with Steve Thompson and Graham Brown with Fraser Rabbit-Dalby lost 6-2 at home to Desford firsts - Graham and Steve winning the two.

But they had better luck on their trip to play Rothley’s fourth team which resulted in a draw. Each pairing of Fraser Rabbit-Dalby/George Simpson and Graham Hall/Steve Thompson won two sets.

The second team of Mark Ashman with George Simpson and Craig Tracey with Will Harrison lost 7-1 at home to Leicestershire D.

Craig and Will took the consolation set and narrowly missed out on two more losing to tie breaks.

The team lost 5-3 against Gynsill thirds with Will Harrison and Craig Tracey winning two sets and Mark Ashman and Doug Hacking one.
