Melton-based pro cycling team Metaltek Kuota will hope home advantage will help lift them up the standings when the Motorpoint Grand Prix Series concludes in Leicester this weekend.

The city will welcome the top elite British teams to race the Castle Classic on Sunday which will form the final leg of the series.

Metaltek are comfortably mid-table in sixth place in the 10-team standings with 63 points.

They are just three points behind fifth-placed NFTO, and four points ahead of Wiggins, the team assembled by Tour de France winner and five-time Olympic champion, Bradley Wiggins.

Andy Swain’s team also have two riders in the top 20 of the individual classification – Dan Fleeman in 11th with 29 points, and Adam Kenway who is 11 points back in 17th.

The race will start and finish near the King Power Stadium and riders will navigate 20 laps of a technical 4.5km circuit around Leicester city centre, taking in the cobbles of Castle Square and the Old Town.

Riders will get under way at 2.45pm with highlights on Eurosport 1 on Sunday at 5.15pm.
