Melton Town win a thriller against Wisbech after last-gasp goal

Melton Town maintained their recent good run after recording a second win in eight days, thanks to a 3-2 home win over visiting Wisbech Town on Saturday.
Andre Williams was the hero with a last minute winner after noth sides had led in a close contest.
A frenetic start saw end to end football with Toby Fura seeing a free kick from 20 yards go just over.
Then Wisbech went up the other end and Kyle Barker saw his deep cross hit the far post and bounce out.
Perry-Burdett hit a rasping shot which was deflected just wide.
But the deadlock was broken on 12 minutes when Yaegan Gore fired into the bottom corner.
A long ball out to Kalis Gore then saw Calver send a header the wrong side of the upright.
The last action of the first half saw a Wisbech corner find Dan Bear unmarked, but his powerful header went inches over the crossbar.
The second half carried on like the first with both teams playing fast, open football.
A 20-pass move from Melton ended when Ryan Calver went across the edge of the area and let fly, only for his effort to shave the outside of the post.
On the hour Luke Harris saw his half volley deflected wide then two minutes later the visitors came close again when a deep cross was only partially cleared by Calver to Kyle Barker, whose volley hit the post.
The visitors kept up the pressure and gained their rewards on 65 minutes when Amir Ward struck a great shot home from the edge of the area.
Two minutes later they were in the lead when Sam Bennett’s shot was saved by Bill Harrison only for Luke Harris to nod the ball over the floored keeper.
Wisbech were only in the lead for five minutes as Melton upped their game and Toby Fura played a superb crossfield pass to Kieran Hayes, who beat his defender and picked out Kalis Gore, who tapped in from three yards out.
Straight from the kick off Kalis Gore went striding into the box before playing back to Toby Fura whose shot went inches wide.
Rod Goncalves then went clear on goal before slipping the ball past Harrison and the post.
In the 80th minute a Wisbech corner found Kyle Barker, whose curling shot needed a fully stretched Harrison to tip the ball over the bar.
However, in the 90th minute the ball was played out wide to Williams on the touchline, he cut inside and sent a curling shot into the far corner of the net to give Melton the three points.
Melton had failed to win any of their four home games in November but have been successful away from home and this result cements Melton's improved form and finally takes them into the top part of the table and an outside chance of making the play-offs.
It’s a trip to the seaside for their final game of 2025 and a meeting with Skegness Town on Saturday.
