Melton Times Sports Awards 2016: Nominees announced

Our judges are set to meet this week to decide the three finalists for each category and pick a winner from each.

Finalists will be announced in next week’s edition and all will be sent an invite to our big awards night at Melton Market’s banqueting suite on Thursday, June 30.

The evening, hosted expertly once more by experienced television sports broadcaster Ivan Gaskell, will see the winners unveiled in time-honoured Oscars-style.

The judges will also draw up two shortlists for our two top awards - Junior Sports Personality of the Year and Sports Personality of the Year.

They will be confirmed in next week’s Melton Times and then it will be over to you to vote for the winners.

Melton Times sports editor Chris Harby said: “I would like to thank everyone for taking the time to nominate and congratulate all those who have got this far.

“To be recognised by your peers like this is a success in itself and I’m sure the judges will have a tough task in deciding who makes it through to the awards night.

“I would also like to say a huge thank-you to all of our sponsors without whom we would have no awards.”
