Pearce earned the silverware after competing in the men’s senior black belt patterns event, improving on last year’s third-place finish at Worcester Arena.

Daniel was pleased to claim a trophy in such a tough category, and hopes it inspires his students as they prepare for their next event, the Lincolnshire County Championships, at Grantham Meres Leisure Centre next month.

Pearce and fellow club instructor Malcolm Scholes will be aiming to get Melton up the medals table, as many youngsters experience the excitement of competition for the first time.

The club meets on Tuesday and Friday evenings at Brooksby Melton College, and new members are always welcome.
