Melton Indoor Bowls: Melton B secure Triples League crown

Their A team clubmates were denied maximum points by Barnstone which clinched top spot in the final standings.

Both teams pushed hard to gain control, and after nine ends, Melton A had established a commanding 13-shot lead.

The teams maintained the pressure with Melton A gradually extending their lead to win by 18 shots overall, but Barnstone took points for two rink wins.

Melton A leapfrogged their opponents into second place in the final table, five points back from the winners.

The evening’s other match between Syston and Belvoir Vale proved a tight match from the outset.

Syston held a slender two-shot lead at the halfway mark, but after 15 ends, the Hose-based club had turned the tables and led by four.

But the lead changed hands once more over the final three ends as Syston picked up 11 shots to Belvoir’s five to win by just two shots. The rinks were shared.

Syston still finished bottom despite the win with Belvoir Vale one place above.
