Melton and District Indoor Bowls Club has played host to the English Indoor Bowls Association’s (EIBA) National Finals for much of the last three decades, and will once again host the men’s and ladies’ finals later this month.

But this year they have also accepted an approach by the English Short Mat Bowls Association (ESMBA) to stage their national championship finals.

The ESMBA championships, which run from Thursday, April 6 to Sunday, April 9, will be the biggest single event Melton has hosted in terms of numbers of players.

Singles, pairs, triples and fours titles will be up for grabs at the Leicester Road venue.

The EIBA finals, which will be held over eight days, down by two from 2016, run from Saturday, March 25 to Saturday, April 1.
