Melton Indoor Bowls Club: Juniors on top form in summer season

The prizes and trophies were presented by club president Sue Lemon, assisted by junior vice-president Pat Wright.

Sue congratulated all of the entrants for making such an important contribution to the summer competitions, and also thanked competition secretary Mick Rawle.

There were 200 entrants, including a club record 79 novices, and juniors, who entered for the first time, made an impressive contribution.

They dominated the novices competitions, winning both singles and pairs finals.

Novice finals -

Men’s Singles: Ethan Giblett beat Paul Warrington 22-18 (both juniors). Men’s Pairs: Paul and Alex Warrington beat Ethan and Brandon Giblett 23-9 (all juniors).

Mixed Pairs: Ethan Giblett and Lynn Henderson beat Malcolm and Carol Lomax 23-13. Triples: Ethan and Brandon Giblett and Paul Warrington beat David and Carol Pick and Ian Raynor 25-8.

Main competition finals -

Ladies’ Singles: Eva Radford beat Erica Warrington 21-16.

Men’s Singles: John Robinson beat Ethan Giblett 21-10. Men’s Pairs: Steve Warren and Gez Moore beat Jordan Butcher and Jason Blackshaw 21-3. Men’s Triples: Adam Wilson, Trevor Main and Brian Rippin beat Shaun and Vic Stubbs and Peter White 15-12.

Mixed Pairs: Shaun and Thelma Stubbs beat Peter White and Sue Dixon 19-18.

Open Under 25 Singles: Paul Warrington beat Jordan Butcher 21-16. Open Sets: John Robinson beat Mark Warrington 2-0.

Over 60s Singles: John Robinson beat Chris James 21-10.
