In a close-fought game, Melton fell 2-0 down before a long through ball from Judge found Sibun who drove into the D and smashed the ball home.

The visitors were in the game right up to the end and they had a last-minute chance to equalise from a penalty corner, but a goalbound shot was deflected over the crossbar.

Melton’s second team continued their improved form with a good 6-2 victory at home to Chesterfield.

The hosts, with Hopla having a fine game, established a 3-0 lead, but Chesterfield pulled a goal back before half-time.

Melton started the second half slowly and the visitors reduced the deficit still further with a second goal.

But the home side reasserted themselves and added a fourth to give them breathing space.

The game became fractious and several cards were issued as Melton sealed the game with two late goals. Their scorers were Creed (2), Pollard (2), Durrant and Merrison.
