Melton bowls: Mixed fortunes as Triples League returns

The House of Townend-sponsored Warren Triples League resumed last Saturday after its mid-winter break.

There was a steady start to the match between Barnstone Bowls Club and Melton Indoor Bowls Club B, but after nine ends, the town team led by 10 shots.

Barnstone fought hard to respond, but by the 15th end Melton B had increased their advantage to 15 shots.

The villagers continued to battle and earned a share of the rinks, but Melton hung on to finish as aggregate winners.

* In the other match of the evening, both Melton IBC A and Belvoir Vale went looking for the win and it was the Hose-based club that led by 10 shots after 12 ends.

Melton gradually closed the gap throughout the final nine ends and took a rink win, but Belvoir Vale hung on to shade the aggregate by three shots.
