The team of Mia Barlow, Molly Tarris, Holly McCracken and Anna Veasey won the 70cm class at the Leicester, Nottingham and Rutland qualifier, which took place at Arena UK, near Grantham, on Saturday.

The national finals take place on Friday and Saturday, April 21 and 22 at Bury Farm, in Buckinghamshire.

The team is managed by Lee Barlow who worked with John Ferneley sports ambassador Paul Jacobs to give the girls the chance to compete in school events despite difficulties fitting into an already crowded school sports programme.

Paul and Lee would like to appeal to any local businesses who would be interested in sponsoring the girls for the national finals.

The team’s success means they have already spent the money allocated by the school.
