Howard does double in medal

MARK Howard did the double in the Midweek Medal by taking the overall winners spot with net 67 and the best gross with 72.

The Division winners were: 0-12 Ken Roscoe net 70 ocb, Andrew Finn net 70; 13-20 Tom Eadon net 70 ocb, David Wells net 70; 21-28 Ken Dimaline net 76, Howard Dixon net 78. There were five winners in the two's pool.

l The seniors summer knockout came to a conclusion last week with Brian Street beating John Parker in the final.

l The ladies played for the LGU pendant and their September medal last week.

Gay Cham claimed the pendant with net 71 on countback from Maureen Stapleford.

The medal results were, Silver Division: Nina Moffatt net 72 ocb, Sue Burdett net 72; Bronze Cat 4: Gay Cham net 71, Kullike Dempster net 75; Bronze Cat 5: Maureen Stapleford net 71, Brenda Williams net 79.

l The mixed team suffered its second defeat of the season at home to Humberstone Heights 3-2.

Melton's winning pairs were Tom Eadon with Joyce McLaren and John Parker with Kathie Finn.

l The juniors have been busy over the last few weeks.

The previous Saturday they competed for the Sam Weller Trophy in ideal conditions.

Steven Savage came up trumps for a third time with net 65.

Tom Ingram was two shots adrift in second, and third was Michael Coady with net 70.

Playing in his second competition Andrew Love won the 29-36 handicap section with a 49 over the front nine holes.

Steven Savage won the Ray Elsome Trophy fro junior singles championship last weekend on the second extra hole from runner-up Richard Brutnell.

Matthew Tocher took the summer holiday round robin medal, and with his partner Lee Wilson won the doubles trophy with 40 points.

In the 29-36 handicap division Dale Radford was first and Sean Braham second.
