Equipment at the site includes an aqua treadmill, a therapeutic exercise and training tool which also helps recovery from injury, and a solarium, which uses heat to encourage circulation and promote an animal’s recovery.

The equipment benefits all types of horses in any level of work and they can treat a range of soft tissue injuries.

The centre, which is based on Brooksby Melton College’s Brooksby venue, also offers additional services including an equi-shower, which helps prepare horses for shows, and a weigh bridge, a useful tool which helps monitor the health and well-being of horses.

Vanessa Hardy, co-ordinator of the Brooksby Equine Rehabilitation Centre, said: “The centre boasts state-of-the-art equipment used for the training and therapy requirements of all horses, no matter the discipline.

“The aqua treadmill is an ideal addition to any horse’s work schedule, offering a low impact full body workout to help develop core strength and build muscle.

“This is ideal for improving the stamina of horses in work without concussive effects, and is equally beneficial for those horses returning to work or recovering from injury.

“The treadmill combined with the solarium provides the perfect facility to warm up prior to or relax post workout.

“Our equi-shower and weigh bridge complete the package allowing owners to keep on top of your horse’s well-being all year round.”

The equipment is part of the £27.7 million investment across both the Brooksby and Melton campuses.
