Hamilton Tennis Club gets into the Hallowe'en spirit

Last Saturday morning more than 20 children aged five to 15 took part in Hallowe'en-themed coaching sessions at Hamilton Tennis Club.

The event was organised by club coach Zoe Jefferies, with the children invited to come along in fancy dress. They went home with certificates and prizes.

* Hamilton’s league matches were not quite so filled with fun and success.

The ladies’ first team of Sue Harrison, Margaret Shufflebotham, Sue Corfield and Jessi Jackson lost 6-2 against Rothley Thirds despite many close sets with each pair winning one.

The ladies’ second team of Cindy Coulter, Davina Adams, Polly Dolby and Emily Harrison faced top team Loughborough and lost 7-1, with Cindy and Davina recording the consolation set.

* Hamilton’s men’s third team of Craig Tracey, Steve Thompson, Selwyn Carter and Edwin Shufflebotham also lost, 6-2, to Carisbrooke C.

Craig and Steve won two sets, while Selwyn and Edwin were unlucky to lose two tie-break sets.

The men’s second team of Nigel Crymble, Graham Hall, Doug Hacking and Andy Stevens were whitewashed 8-0 by Houghton Firsts.
